Patient
Care
DNipCare (Delhites’ National Initiative in Palliative Care) is an
organization rendering psycho social and medical support through regular home
visits to the patients suffering from long term, bedridden and terminal
illnesses. This initiative was started
on 15th August 2008 by a few young people from all walks of life and presently
providing care and support for patients in and around
Though Cancer
patients constitute around 75% of our patient base, we have so far attended to
patients suffering from Paraplegia, Quadriplegia, Genetic disorders, Cerebral
Palsy, Multiple Sclerosis and Mentally ill, perennial accident victims
etc.
Of late we have
also started seeing the Cancer Patients living in Sir Soba Singh Dharamshala of
Delhi State Cancer Hospital, GTB Hospital Complex, Dilshad Garden, Delhi in
addition to our regular registered patients.
We try to help them to come out of the cocoon of emotional isolation
they are undergoing along with their progressing diseases especially when they
do not have any other visitors to come from their far flung home towns in
Uttarakhand, Bihar, Rajasthan, UP etc.
We also try to follow up the patients belonging to Delhi among them and
provide necessary Palliation for them.
As we are well aware that these patients do not have any festivals
and festivities, but only the melancholy of excruciating pains and desperation,
we the volunteers of DNipCare celebrated Indian Independence Day with these patients on 15th
August 2010 and also 2011.
